Moving Forward with Purpose: York Regional Police Service Board’s 2026-2029 Strategic Plan

November 4, 2026
General

York Regional Police and the York Regional Police Service Board are proud to launch the 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, a community-focused roadmap that will guide the organization's priorities, services, and partnerships over the next four years.

Built to guide decision-making, strengthen accountability and focus police resources where they matter most, the plan will help ensure York Regional Police continues to evolve and be proactive when anticipating and responding to the needs of our community members.

“This plan sets out a clear direction for our police service and the work we will undertake over the next three years,” Chief Paulo Da Silva said. “It is informed by the voices of local residents and business owners, our members, our municipal and community partners, and the data, trends, challenges and opportunities we face in public safety and policing across York Region.”

The Strategic Plan brings the mission, vision and values of York Regional Police to life through a clear set of priorities and objectives, helping to guide policing services and contribute to a safer and more secure region today and in the years to come.

“As York Region continues to grow and evolve, we remain committed to providing effective, responsive and accountable police services that meet the needs of our communities,” said Board Chair Steve Pellegrini. “At the heart of this plan is a clear commitment: to keep York Region safe while strengthening public trust and confidence in policing.”

The 2026-2029 Strategic Plan outlines four overarching goals that will shape the direction of York Regional Police.

  1. To advance crime prevention and community safety through strategic enforcement and proactive public safety initiatives
  2. To enhance response delivery through partnership and enforcement
  3. To build visible, accessible and accountable policing in service to the community
  4. To support our people and modernize service delivery
